Oil spills are rarer than other spills in a home. Or are they? This could be done or caused by a child or an adult. But regardless of who may cause you want to be prepared and also prepare your children to deal with this in a proper manner so no one gets hurt unnecessarily.

Here is what do not want, some oil gets spilled on the floor, it is not dealt with immediately. A child runs in from the outside or from another room, slides and hits the back is his head which could either result in death or serious long-lasting injuries such as loss of memory or a mental issue.
Tip: A little paranoia keeps you safe!
If oil spills on the floor in your home, here is what you do:
Inform anyone in earshot immediately! This is to prevent them from approaching while you do the next wise thing.

The best things to absorb spilled grease are salt or baking soda. Sprinkle salt or baking soda all over the grease.
Let the salt or baking soda soak up the grease for at least five minutes. Use a broom to gather the debris together so you can put into the rubbish bin.
Use some kind of soap in a mop or cloth to wipe away the area ensuring that even the grease stain is removed from the floor. Then dry the area with a mop or cloth to remove the soapy residues as soapy residue can also be slippery.
just in case you use coloring as in the photos, just use a little hydrogen peroxide to eliminate the coloring. Sprinkle on the stain and wipe away with a mop or cloth.

In a case where you do not have enough salt or baking soda, spread the area with a bright colored liquid such as coloring or dish soap to allow everyone approaching to be alerted that something is on the floor. This is due to the fact that oil is normally almost invisible on the floor.
You may want to be very serious about this even while wiping it up because someone could think you are just wiping up something else and step in it and fall. So be on the lookout while wiping.

If you follow these steps, the floor should be good as new when you are finished and no one should get hurt from the oil spill.
