Eyeglasses are our partners and best friends in so many ways. Some of us literally cannot move from one end of the house to the next without putting them on.
To some people who do not wear eyeglasses, it is quite an insignificant feature and they think to themselves whether or not a person wearing it is cute in his or her glasses or if they should get a new frame to look smarter.
While looks matter to many people, the most significant feature of an eyeglass is to allow the person wearing it to actually see better.
So whether it fits a fashion statement or makes one look like a smashing genius, the purpose remains the same. Shhhh….we have a clever little secret to reveal at the end of this post that you may have already known but never noticed.
But sometimes those second pair of eyes get scratched from the many activities of our day-to-day lives.
They may also get foggy from time to time and we wonder how to combat these small but significant issues.
Here are some great ideas to assist you
Note: It is not advised to use abrasives such as any form of powder or a paste made with baking soda as this might cause tiny scratches to appear after you are finished rubbing your glasses.
Use Spray Wax Furniture Polish
1) We sometimes have a little spray wax furniture Polish leftover after cleaning and never thought of the many good uses it has other than to make furniture shiny.
Spray a little of that polish on your glasses and rub in a circular motion with a clean dry cloth. The scratches will disappear right away.
Glass Water Repellant
2 )If you have left out of the house and you are no longer in a building, your glasses suddenly look a bit foggy for one reason or another.
Take a look someplace in the car trunk maybe, or in a pocket somewhere you may find your glass water repellant.
Use your glass water repellant for cars. It gets glasses clean and prevents fog from getting onto it.
Use Toothpaste
3) Use toothpaste: rub a moderate amount on your glasses in a circular motion and rinse with fresh cold water. Let the glasses air dry… it works very well.
Baking soda
Dissolve 1 teaspoon of baking soda in one cup of water. Immerse your eyeglasses in the water solution for two minutes.
Then use a soft piece of cloth or paper towel to dip in the water as well and rub the inner and outer surfaces of the eyeglasses in a circular motion.
Remove from the water and buff with a microfiber cloth.
Rubbing Alcohol
Rubbing alcohol can remove smudges, stains, and grease quickly from your eyeglasses.
Just dip a piece of microfiber cloth in some rubbing alcohol.
Rub it in a circular motion on the inner and outer areas of the eyeglasses and let it air dry.
Vinegar
Vinegar is a natural glass cleaner that strips away grease and smudges from a glass. You can immerse your eyeglasses in white vinegar for about thirty seconds and it will remove stains, dirt, and smudges.
Remove from the vinegar and rub it clean with a microfiber cloth.
Use this easy window/ DIY glass cleaner to make your glasses streak-free, smudge-free, and fog-free.
Ingredients
1/4 cup Vodka,
1/4 cup white vinegar
1 Tbsp cornstarch
2 cups hot water
Instruction
Mix all ingredients in a glass bottle and put it down to cool. Throw on a spray top and spritz some on both sides of the eyeglasses.
Rub clean with a clean dry microfiber cloth, newspaper, or paper towel.
In the ingredients above, you may replace vodka with rubbing alcohol if you do not mind the scent. The vodka version is scent-free.
Remember that wearing your glasses is a positive thing, regardless of outside opinions.
